In South Africa, Corporate Social Investment (CSI) often plays a pivotal role in the lives of many individuals. The impact of any CSI programme should never be under-estimated, and as the social needs of our country and population are substantial, it is a moral duty for businesses of any size to make a difference to society and the communities in which they operate.
Traditionally the end of the year is synonymous for gift giving, and through the support of our clients, staff and suppliers, Compex was once again able to make a significant change in the lives of four special people by giving the gift of sight and mobility respectively. At the end of 2014, the Compex team, donated wheelchairs to two individuals; and sponsored cataract operations for another two individuals.
For the individuals involved in the project, both the recipients and those from Compex, the experience of making a real difference is both deeply empowering and emotional. Nigel Walker, Director and founder of Compex said “The impact of such focused interventions is immediate and very humbling; you begin to understand the significance you can play in changing the way another person experiences the world.”
