The time has come for Africa to take its place at the forefront of the global exhibitions industry. It has been my great honour to accept the role of Vice Chair of the Middle East Africa Chapter for UFI, The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry.
I truly appreciate the confidence that the members of this chapter have shown in me. As part of my commitment to this organisation I will be focusing much of my time and energy on creating even greater awareness around UFI, promoting what it has to offer the industry, and most importantly - growing its footprint in the African region.
With more than 600 members from 85 countries, UFI’s main objective is the worldwide representation, promotion and support of its members and the exhibition industry. With its efficient networking platform, industry professionals are able to meet with key players and exchange ideas and experiences. Members also have the opportunity to improve expertise, strengthen customer relations, exchange knowledge and share best practices.
UFI plays a major role in promoting trade fairs and exhibitions globally as a unique marketing and communications tool. In addition, it provides its members with valuable studies and research regarding all aspects of the exhibition industry. It offers educational training opportunities to both members and non-members through high-level seminars and education programmes, ensuring that the exhibition industry continues to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to hold its position as the top marketing media.
As the Vice Chair for this region, one of my chief responsibilities is to see to the growth of UFI, particularly within Africa. I believe that Africa represents the next frontier for growth and development for UFI, and global membership can only benefit by giving Africa its support.
As such, I would like to invite you to continue your active participation in UFI and assist us in introducing and promoting UFI within your countries, to new role players who may also benefit from the exceptional opportunities that it has to offer. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for the global exhibitions and events industry and more than anything, the role that Africa’s exhibitions industry can play in this development.
