GL events - Silver sponsor at the 84th UFI Congres

GL events South Africa was proud to provide Exhibition infrastructure and Hostesses in addition to our Silver sponsorship for the 84th International UFI congress.
UFI - The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry is an association of trade show organisers, fairground owners, national and international associations of the exhibition industry, and its partners. UFI directly represents around 50 000 exhibition industry employees globally and has 740 member organisations across 85 countries, it is truly a very impressive association.

From 1-4 November UFI held it's 84th Annual Congress at the Sandton Convention Centre, this was a great milestone for the association as it is the first time the congress was held on the African continent.
GL events South Africa took up a Silver sponsorship for the event, as well as the hostessing and construction of all the exhibition booths in the networking area.

GL events South Africa was well represented at the event as our hostessing teams were assigned to various stations throughout the Sandton Convention Centre, it was a great experience to interact with all the international delegates and see their excitement about visiting our beautiful country.

On the GL events SA stand we had many visitors inquiring about the local entity as most of them are more familiar with our Head Office in France, it was a proud moment to be able to represent not only the local version of the GL events brand but also showcase to all the international delegates that South Africa has the capability to deliver an event of international standards.

The sponsorship provided the opportunity to attend the insightful congress sessions and panel discussions. The congress covered a vast number of topics such as Digital disruption, Pressure, Profits and Opportunities in Emerging Markets, Exhibitor expectations, and the Global industry Review.

The topics all speak to an ever-changing industry and how companies within the Event and Exhibition space constantly have to evolve in order to meet consumer demands and keep this critical face to face marketing tool alive.

In addition to the above, the topics highlighted the size of the Exhibitions and Tradeshow industry. This industry and it's essential contribution to tourism is often misjudged. According to AAXO - The Association of African Exhibition Organisers, who conducted a study with Grant Thornton between August 2015 and February 2016, the direct, indirect and induced economic impact of the exhibitions industry is estimated at R75 billion for South Africa as a whole with tourism impact amounting to R23 billion and 47 000 sustained jobs.

It is clear that the Exhibitions industry plays a key part in the local economy and we encourage companies to keep applying this very effective marketing tool in order to grow your brand image, generate new leads, launch new products and engage with existing customers.
