Holidaymakers reminiscing about long-lost summer days spent on the balmy beaches of KwaZulu-Natal and those counting down the days to their next family getaway to this popular coastal region, can visit the 2014 Rand Easter Show from 18 - 28 April, where Tourism KwaZulu-Natal will be bringing the fun of the KwaZulu-Natal beach experience to everyone's doorstep.

Visitors to this year's Rand Easter Show can enjoy the 3 500m2 of 'KwaZulu-Natal beach esplanade,' complete with sand, beach umbrellas and deck chairs, as well as the relaxing sounds of crashing waves and seagulls. The summer beach vibe will be underpinned by a wide variety of daily beach entertainment activities, including drumming cafés, music sessions by popular DJs and competitions with daily prize giveaways. Children of all ages will be spoilt for choice with free fun-filled activities, including surfing, rickshaw and boat rides all provided.
Commenting on Tourism KwaZulu-Natal's participation in the almost 120-year old Rand Easter Show, spokesperson Vikki Vink said, "Tourism KwaZulu-Natal is extremely excited to be bringing the KwaZulu-Natal beach experience back to the Rand Easter Show. Our unique beach exhibition and activity-packed programme represents a microcosm of the ever-popular KwaZulu-Natal beach experience and aims to thrill and entertain the diverse 250 000-strong audience expected to visit the show this year."

"The fact that the Rand Easter Show remains the largest consumer show of its kind in South Africa and Africa, coupled with its location in Gauteng, from where the majority of KwaZulu-Natal's domestic visitors hail, presents a unique opportunity for us to connect with KwaZulu-Natal's loyal holidaymakers on their home soil. We are also extremely proud to be using this platform to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our country's democracy and pay tribute to the heroes of our national freedom struggle. Tourism KwaZulu-Natal will honour this legacy throughout the 11-day show via exhibition replicas of the Nelson Mandela Capture Site and the John Dube Memorial, both of which are located in our heritage-rich province," added Vink.

"KwaZulu-Natal is looking forward to welcoming visitors who will be spending their Easter break on our friendly shores and encourages you to not only take full advantage of the warm weather and sub-tropical beaches, but to also travel inland and experience the myriad of tourist attractions and events that the province has to offer. The Southern Drakensberg will once again play host to the Annual Splashy Fen Music Festival from 17 - 21 April and the Vodacom Winter Festival will be taking place in Newcastle from 30 April - 3 May. The thrilling Africa Bike Week promises to be fun for the whole family and is scheduled to take place from the 1- 4 May in the seaside town of Margate on the South Coast," added Vink.
