South Africa’s most prestigious golfing event, The Nedbank Golf Challenge, also known as Africa’s Major, which takes place this year from 5 to 8 December 2013, has once again teamed up with leading infrastructure provider GL events Oasys as a sponsor and supplier to bring to Sun City the biggest event on the African golf eventing calendar.

Promising to be the largest event since its inception in 1981, the 2013 Nedbank Golf Challenge will feature an increased 30-man field competing for a total purse of $6.5 million at the Gary Player Country Club – an increase of $1.5 million on the 2012 prize money. At the time of writing the following players have been confirmed: Branden Grace (South Africa), Martin Kaymer (Germany), Justin Rose (England), Peter Senior (Australia), Henrik Stenson (Sweden), Kevin Streelman (USA), Thaworn Wiratchant (Thailand), Gary Woodland (USA), Brendon de Jonge (Zimbabwe), Sergio Garcia (Spain), Luke Donald (England), DA (Darren Andrew) Points (USA).
Players will also have the added attraction that the Nedbank Golf Challenge will count towards Official World Golf Ranking points as well as Ryder Cup points, and as official money on both the European Tour Race to Dubai and the Sunshine Tour Order of Merit. The eligibility criteria for a place in one of the most sought-after fields in world golf has been expanded to ensure the 2013 Nedbank Golf Challenge will be amongst the most globally-represented tournaments in the history of South African golf. As per tradition, the defending champion, Martin Kaymer, remains exempt for the following year’s tournament. The winner of the previous season’s Sunshine Tour Order of Merit is also still guaranteed a place in the field.
GL events Oasys once again has been appointed as the exclusive Hospitality Agents for the event. Offering visitors two hospitality options, namely Challenge Club Public Hospitality or Clubhouse Corporate Hospitality where golfing fans will be able to enjoy watching the world’s top golfers from the comfort of one of the luxury facilities.
