The EXSA Academy is Open for Business!

The EXSA Academy has been established to develop skills at all levels within the exhibition and events industry; to help the industry comply with health and safety legislation and at the same time improve your company’s and your own performance and productivity. This is fast and economical exhibition qualifications based on you and your staff’s existing skills. Some of the cost of training, coaching and qualifications offered by the EXSA Academy can be recovered from skills levies paid, plus the BBBEE points gained from up-skilling your staff will also improve your chance of working with the public sector. The EXSA Academy will help put your Workplace Skills Plan together. And we have BEE experts on hand to help you plan your company’s training needs to set all this in place.

The EXSA Academy will be developing qualifications and recognise skills from the basic entry-level jobs to International Event Management qualifications and professional designations.

“Sue Gannon and Joy Donovan, Directors of the Academy, have a wealth of knowledge about the exhibition industry and we are delighted to be working together to set in process legislation for skills development and up-skilling ALL our staff in the events industry. Training is such an important factor and recognition of prior learning (RPL) will go a long way to ensuring skilled staff can get on an established career pathway leading to more job creation and expansion for our industry. It’s a win-win for all” commented Phumulani Hlatshwayo, GM for EXSA.

Continuing professional development (CPD) is vital for everyone looking to grow and thrive in the events industry. The EXSA Academy will host workshops and short courses to meet the needs of the exhibition and events industry, as well as offer on-line courses across many different subjects relevant to our industry.

The EXSA Academy will be closely working with both EXSA and CEP Africa (the Council of Event Professionals Africa – which is the new Professional Body for the events industry). And they plan to connect with all other industry Associations both in SA, Africa and further afield.
