Durban, KwaZulu-Natal – The Durban International Convention Centre (Durban ICC) is proud to announce its latest international triumph, having once again been awarded the title of “Africa’s Leading Meetings and Conference Centre” at the prestigious World Travel Awards 2025. The announcement was made during a glittering awards gala held at the Johari Rotana in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The World Travel Awards are internationally recognised as the gold standard in travel and tourism. Voted on by industry professionals and consumers worldwide, the awards celebrate excellence across all areas of the hospitality and events sectors.
This remarkable achievement marks the 20th time that the Durban ICC has received this accolade since the category was introduced in 2001, further cementing its status as the continent’s foremost venue for world-class business events.
In a double celebration for the region, the city of Durban was also voted “Africa’s Leading Meetings and Conference Destination”, affirming its growing global reputation as a premier city for large-scale events, conferences, and exhibitions.
Attending the gala on behalf of the Centre, Dr Mduduzi Bophela, Chairperson of the Durban ICC Board, proudly accepted the award, noting, “It is a true honour to receive this recognition on behalf of our team, our stakeholders, and the city of Durban. Winning this award speaks to the consistency, professionalism and world-class standards that have become synonymous with the Durban ICC brand. We are proud to contribute to Durban’s international standing as a centre of excellence in business tourism.”
