DURBAN ICC BOARD WELCOMES NEW POWERHOUSE APPOINTMENTS

Durban, South Africa – The Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (Durban ICC) is pleased to announce the appointment of two distinguished professionals, Mr Mduduzi Christopher Nkomo and Mrs Nonkululeko Cheryl-Anne Sigudu, to its Board of Directors. Their appointments, effective August 2025, mark an important step in further strengthening the Centre’s leadership as it continues to drive economic growth and position Durban as a leading global meetings destination.

Mr Nkomo brings a wealth of legal expertise and leadership experience to the Durban ICC. As a seasoned attorney and the founder of a successful law practice established in 1998, he has spent nearly three decades serving clients across a wide spectrum of practice areas, including corporate law, civil litigation, criminal law, and estate administration.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mr Nkomo is widely admired for his principled leadership and deep commitment to social justice. His career reflects a dedication to empowering communities, strengthening institutions, and upholding ethical governance — qualities that will serve the Durban ICC well in its pursuit of excellence and stakeholder trust.

Mrs Sigudu, a Chartered Accountant (SA), joins the Board with extensive experience in business operations, consulting, and leadership development. As the Chief Operations Officer at Sphola International (Pty) Ltd, she has overseen transformative projects in skills development and project management, particularly those targeting youth empowerment and employment.

Passionate about mentorship, Mrs Sigudu has played a pivotal role in nurturing young talent through her work with the African Women Chartered Accountants (AWCA), where she previously served as KZN Regional Chairperson. Her broad academic and professional background, combined with her strong community involvement, will add immense value to the Durban ICC’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity, transformation, and innovation.

The Durban ICC extends its heartfelt gratitude to outgoing Board Members, Ms Linda Ngcobo and Prof. Bantu Dumisa, for their dedicated service, valuable contributions, and unwavering commitment during their tenure. Their guidance has played an important role in strengthening the Centre’s reputation as Africa’s leading convention centre.
Welcoming the new appointments, Dr Mduduzi Bophela, Chairperson of the Durban ICC Board, commented, “We are delighted to welcome Mr Nkomo and Mrs Sigudu to the Board. Both individuals bring exceptional expertise, integrity, and a shared commitment to advancing the Centre’s mandate of driving positive economic and social impact. Their skills and experience will help us to deepen our governance, strengthen our partnerships, and ensure that the Durban ICC continues to play a catalytic role in positioning Durban and South Africa as a world-class destination for global events.”

With their expertise and passion for social and economic development, the Durban ICC is confident that the leadership of its Board will support its continued growth, innovation, and positive impact on the city, the province, and the nation.
